School Psychologists in California – Job Information

School psychologists employed by TherapyTravelers can work in a variety of settings. 

A majority of our psychologists work in public K-12 schools. However, we can also get you a position in a private school, charter school, or university. 

As a school psychologist, you can expect to perform the following roles:

  • Implement behavioral management techniques
  • Diagnose and treat learning disabilities
  • Evaluate and advise disciplinary policies for troubled students
  • Administer psychological tests for special education purposes
  • Meet with teachers and parents to discuss students’ social, behavioral, familial, and learning problems
  • Listen to concerns about academic, emotional, and social problems

What You Need to Be a School Psychologist in California

To work as a school psychologist, you need to meet minimum requirements at both the baccalaureate and graduate level:

  • Obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited university
  • Complete 60 hours of graduate education in a psychology program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
